Regal Guitars, also known as The Regal Musical Instrument Company, was founded in Chicago in 1895 by Emil Wulschner. The company started out producing mandolins, but eventually expanded to guitars and other stringed instruments.
Regal became known for producing high-quality instruments, and in the 1920s, the company began producing resonator guitars, which became popular among blues and country musicians. Regal also made guitars for other companies, including Gibson and Martin.
Throughout its history, Regal faced challenges, including the Great Depression and changing consumer preferences. The company went bankrupt in the 1950s and was eventually sold to Harmony, another Chicago-based instrument manufacturer.
Today, Regal Guitars continues to produce high-quality instruments, including acoustic and resonator guitars, mandolins, and ukuleles. The company is known for its vintage-style instruments, and many of its models are based on classic designs from the early 20th century.
